Her gentle revenge was to live well chapter 06

Chapter 06
Chapter 06

Actually, I did care—because her tantrums brought Chen Ming home.
She wanted a house too, one costing over eight million. But Chen Ming wasn’t a fool. He might say she was important, might even claim he’d choose her over me and the kids, but when it came to real action, I knew he’d rather spend on me than on her.
I was, after all, his wife of many years, the one whose loyalty was beyond question. No matter how many beautiful women came into his life, none could match the sincerity I’d shown him.
Besides, they’d been together for over two years. For men, the grass is always greener on the other side—but after seven hundred days and nights, even a rose becomes a faded memory.

I made all of Chen Ming’s favorite dishes. He ate ravenously, which is just human nature.
If you eat dumplings every day, you get tired of them and want something else. But after two years away, even dumplings taste good again.
Still, who said he could have whatever he wanted whenever he wanted?
I didn’t dare ask—and I couldn’t, not yet.

As night fell, I deliberately lingered, waiting until he was fast asleep before slipping into bed.
Honestly, I found him repulsive, but I couldn’t refuse him outright. It was agonizing.
When he rolled over and draped his arm over me, I tensed up. Men and women are just wired differently.
For men, having multiple women is a point of pride. For me, sharing a man with someone else made my skin crawl.
Still, I snapped a photo of him asleep and posted it with the caption, “My man is still my man,” visible only to Meiling.
Chen Ming probably thought both of us were fighting over him.
I got up before dawn, afraid he’d wake up and try anything. I really couldn’t bear the thought.
To avoid suspicion, I went to the kitchen and started kneading dough for steamed buns—a time-consuming chore, but it would keep him from asking questions.

When it was time, I woke the kids—my son and daughter  together we stood by Chen Ming’s bed, calling his name.
He opened his eyes to see our children’s soft, round faces. Even a beast would soften at that sight.
Chen Ming sat up with a grin, his expression relaxed.
I smiled and said, “All of Xiao Jie’s classmates have education funds. Should we get one too?”
While he was still in a good mood, I suggested buying insurance for our daughter as well. “She’s younger, so it’s even more suitable.”
“Go ahead,” he said casually.
“Kids, thank your dad. He’s buying you education funds!”
I grabbed his phone, used his fingerprint, and transferred a million yuan.
He saw all those zeros and was about to protest, but I hugged all three of them.
“I want to use the rest to buy clothes and bags. I don’t want to look like a housewife and embarrass you.”
I didn’t tell him that the property deed for my parents’ new house was in my mother’s name—it had nothing to do with him.

But I underestimated Meiling. While our family was still basking in the warmth of the moment, Chen Ming’s phone rang.
On video, she stood on the rooftop of our building, the wind howling around her as she sobbed. “Chen Ming, you promised you wouldn’t live with her. You lied! You’re a liar!”
So, yesterday’s photo had worked.
She really is young—quick to act on impulse.
